The history of Garda DOP oil

Middle Ages – High quality and economic value of oil. 4 to 6 kg of oil was equivalent to the value of a large pig.

1200 – Establishment of the "Sigillum Comunis Veronae" seals that accompanied oil during exports. The sale was controlled by a specially designated official, the "Superstes Oley."

Renaissance – Land arrangement with terrace constructions.

1700/1750 – Venezia Numerata: census of olive trees and oil mills.

1997 – Garda oil receives recognition as a Protected Designation of Origin product.

2004 – Recognition of the Protection Consortium.
